The Chop Hauler is a variation on the much-loved MCH-DS Spigot, specifically engineered to haul raw asteroid material. In place of the container grid, the Chop Hauler is outfitted with mirrored arrays of shock-absorbing impact mounts, capable of clamping rocks of all shapes and sizes. Before skiff-based asteroid mining took off after the Freight Wars - fueled by the influx of EVA expertise - chop-hauling was the prevailing methodology for ore-extraction. While skiff-mining remains the tactic of choice, this is largely due to its much lower bar for entry. For the drifter with large-scale capacities, freighting raw material for surface-based extraction is the more lucrative approach.
